What is Colourstrings?  

Colourstrings is a reputable approach to music & instrumental teaching from Finland that has achieved spectacular results internationally since 1970. Colourstrings  offers a complete music education system that will take a chid from the earliest stages of music kindergarten through instrumental lessons at conservatory level. It was developed by the Hungarian Szilvay brothers, who are known to string players and pedagogues all over the world. 

LOVE OF MUSIC. Based on the work of Kodaly, Orff & Dalcroze, the music & movement classes make high quality, child-centred music training accessible to all children and their families. They aim to develop within the child a love for and appreciation of good music that will last a lifetime.

MUSICAL UNDERSTANDING. With the help of the simple graded song books & CDs, children learn to sing in tune (a skill which we believe everyone is capable of learning!) develop a strong sense of beat, an understanding of the basic music concepts (pitch, rhythm etc.) and highly developed listening skills. Eventually the children learn to read and write basic music notation prior to learning an instrument through Colourstrings (if they later wish to). 

SUCCESSFUL INSTRUMENTAL STUDY. Favourite songs from the music kindergarten  classes reappear in the instrumental books creating an integrated system of learning that has already produced many generations of professional musicians and active hobbyists world-wide.
