Why is it called Colourstrings?
Developed by Hungarian-born violinist Dr. Géza Szilvay in 1970’s, Colourstrings started as an approach to teaching stringed instruments and using coloured music notation to simplify early music reading. Dr
Szilvay based his teaching methods on Kodály principles,
which evolved to form the successful music and
movement program and children can now choose to learn violin, cello, piano, guitar, mini-bass or flute through Colourstrings.
" Colourstrings is an exceptional method in the training of young musicians and I have yet to experience a more successful approach to developing musicianship, aural awareness and solid musical principles in the very young "
